I can't say that I have heard of a Tiger Angelfish (that doesn't mean anything as I don't know a lot of species and they can go by a few names), except for the Saltwater Tiger Angelfish.
I have known people that have kept those fish on your list with Angelfish and have not had any problems. Just be aware that your tank may be different and it can depend on the individual personalities of the fish. Always provide a lot of hiding places. Angelfish are cichlids and definitely can have the cichlid personality as well, but if you only have one that makes things a lot easier. I would be wary of the Buenos Aires Tetra, as they can be quite nippy and the cherry barbs (also can be nippy at times) if very small could become food for the Angel. They will eat smaller fish partically if underfed. Also because Angelfish have small mouths and it can take them longer to eat, so other fast fish may get most of the food and because of their long finnage they are also prone to get nipped by other nippy fish. I don't know anything about exotic fish, so I can't help you there sorry. Last edited by Bernie; 07-30-2010 at 04:27 AM. |

Either the silver dollars or Bala Sharks should be fine. Bala's are very skittish and renowned jumpers, so it's best to have a tight lid on the tank. It is also quite common for them to hurt themselves by banging into the sides of the tank when startled.
There are many species of sucking cat fish, which one are you referring too? Do you mean the gold sucking catfish, chinese algae eater, flying fox (these can be very aggressive when mature), or siamese algae eater? Sometimes they may have a tendency to attach themselves to fish like angelfish, silver dollars etc. to eat their slime coating (I even had a particular Otocinclus catfish once that would try to do that to my Gourami). If you want to go with the larger type catfish, I would choose the true siamese algae eater, but they are often mislabeled in the store, so you need to know how to tell the difference. How big is your tank? You say 3 ft, but just wondering what height, width it is...how many gallons exactly? Last edited by Bernie; 07-30-2010 at 01:36 PM. |
